An AFP (alpha - fetoprotein) tumor marker test measures the level of AFP, a protein normally produced by the fetal liver, in the blood. While AFP levels are typically very low in adults, elevated levels can indicate certain types of cancer, such as liver cancer, testicular cancer, or ovarian cancer. This test is used as part of cancer diagnosis, monitoring treatment response, and detecting potential recurrence. Its important to note that elevated AFP levels can also be caused by other conditions, such as liver damage or inflammation.

THE CA 19-9 TEST MEASURES THE LEVEL OF A SPECIFIC PROTEIN (CA 19-9) IN THE BLOOD. WHILE ELEVATED CA 19-9 LEVELS ARE OFTEN ASSOCIATED WITH PANCREATIC CANCER, ITS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT THIS TEST ISNOT SPECIFIC TO PANCREATIC CANCER AND CAN BE ELEVATED IN OTHER CONDITIONS LIKE LIVER DISEASE, GALLBLADDER INFLAMMATION, OR EVEN SOME BENIGN PANCREATIC DISEASES. THEREFORE, CA 19-9 IS PRIMARILY USED TO MONITOR THE PROGRESSION OF KNOWN PANCREATIC CANCER, RATHER THAN AS A SCREENING TOOL. OTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTS, SUCH AS IMAGING STUDIES, ARE CRUCIAL FOR CONFIRMING PANCREATIC CANCER.

CA-125 is a blood test that measures the level of a protein called cancer antigen 125. While elevated CA-125 levels can be associated with ovarian cancer, Its important to note that this test is not a definitive diagnosis. Many other conditions, such as endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and pregnancy, can also cause elevated CA - 125 levels. Therefore, this test is primarily used to monitor women with known ovarian cancer or those at high risk due to family history or genetic mutations.

LDH IS AN ENZYME FOUND IN VARIOUS TISSUES THROUGHOUT THE BODY, INCLUDING THE HEART, LIVER, SKELETAL MUSCLE, KIDNEYS, AND RED BLOOD CELLS. IT IS INVOLVED IN THE BREAKDOWN OF GLUCOSE FOR ENERGY PRODUCTION. WHEN TISSUES ARE DAMAGED OR DISEASED, LDH LEVELS IN THE BLOOD CAN INCREASE. ELEVATED LDH LEVELS CAN BE A SIGN OF CONDITIONS SUCH AS HEART ATTACKS, LIVER DISEASE, HEMOLYTIC ANEMIA, MUSCLE DAMAGE, AND CERTAIN CANCERS. HOWEVER, IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT ELEVATED LDH LEVELS ALONE MAY NOT BE ENOUGH TO DIAGNOSE A SPECIFIC CONDITION, AND FURTHER TESTING MAY BE NECESSARY TO DETERMINE THE UNDERLYING CAUSE.

Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is a glycoprotein produced by the fetal digestive tract and certain types of cancer cells. While elevated CEA levels can indicate various cancers, including colorectal, lung, breast, and pancreatic, Its not a definitive diagnostic tool. CEA testing is primarily used to monitor treatment response, detect cancer recurrence, and assess prognosis in individuals with known cancer.

CA 15 - 3 is a blood test used to monitor breast cancer treatment and detect disease recurrence. It measures a protein called cancer antigen 15 - 3, which is produced by some breast cancer cells.Elevated CA 15 - 3 levels may indicate cancer progression or recurrence. However, Its not a diagnostic test for breast cancer, as other conditions can also cause elevated levels. CA 15-3 is most useful when combined with clinical assessment and other imaging tests.

HCG IS A HORMONE PRODUCED BY THE SYNCYTIOTROPHOBLAST OF THE PLACENTA. HCG CONCENTRATIONS ARE INCREASED IN CASES OF TESTICULAR TUMORS, OVARIAN GERM CELL TUMORS AND GESTATIONAL TROPHOBLASTIC DISEASE.

A COMPLETE BLOOD COUNT (CBC) IS A COMPREHENSIVE BLOOD TEST THAT PROVIDES INFORMATION ABOUT THE CELLS IN YOUR BLOOD. IT MEASURES THE NUMBER OF RED BLOOD CELLS, WHITE BLOOD CELLS, AND PLATELETS, AS WELL AS HEMOGLOBIN (THE PROTEIN THAT CARRIES OXYGEN) AND HEMATOCRIT (THE PERCENTAGE OF RED BLOOD CELLS IN YOUR BLOOD). A CBC IS USED TO DIAGNOSE AND MONITOR A WIDE RANGE OF CONDITIONS, INCLUDING ANEMIA, INFECTIONS, BLEEDING DISORDERS, AND BLOOD CANCERS.
