detected using the indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA),
is a specific marker for celiac disease.Celiac disease is an autoimmune condition characterized by a sensitivity to gluten,
a protein found in wheat,
barley,
and rye.In individuals with celiac disease,
the immune system reacts to gluten bynn attacking the small intestine.Endomysial antibody IgA is produced in response to this immune reaction
and can be detected in the blood.A positive test for endomysial antibody IgA can be a strong indicator of celiac disease,
but it is often used in conjunction with other diagnostic tests,
such as genetic testing
and tissue biopsy,
to confirm the diagnosis.
