Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a spiral-shaped bacteria that can infect the lining of the stomach and duodenum. When this infection occurs, the immune system responds by producing antibodies, including IgG antibodies. IgG antibodies are a type of immunoglobulin that is produced by the immune system to fight off infections. In the case of H. pylori infection, IgG antibodies are produced to target and neutralize the bacteria. The presence of IgG antibodies in the blood can be detected through a blood test, which can be used to diagnose H. pylori infection.
