A total testosterone test measures the combined levels of both free and bound testosterone in the blood. ABNORMAL FSH LEVELS CAN INDICATE UNDERLYING REPRODUCTIVE OR HORMONAL IMBALANCES.
A PROLACTIN, SERUM TEST MEASURES THE LEVEL OF PROLACTIN, A HORMONE PRODUCED BY THE PITUITARY GLAND. PROLACTIN IS PRIMARILY RESPONSIBLE FOR STIMULATING BREAST MILK PRODUCTION AFTER CHILDBIRTH. HOWEVER, ELEVATED PROLACTIN LEVELS CAN ALSO OCCUR IN NON-PREGNANT INDIVIDUALS AND MAY INDICATE CONDITIONS SUCH AS PITUITARY TUMORS (PROLACTINOMAS), THYROID DISORDERS, OR CERTAIN MEDICATIONS. THIS TEST HELPS DIAGNOSE HORMONAL IMBALANCES AND INFERTILITY ISSUES IN BOTH MEN AND WOMEN.
