A D - dimer test measures the amount of D - dimer, a protein fragment formed when blood clots break down, in the blood. This test is primarily used to help rule out blood clots in conditions like deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).An elevated D - dimer level suggests the possibility of a blood clot, but further testing is usually required to confirm the diagnosis.
C - Reactive Protein (CRP) is a blood test that measures the level of CRP, a protein produced by the liver in response to inflammation. Its a nonspecific marker of inflammation, meaning it can be elevated in various conditions, including infections, autoimmune diseases, and heart disease. While CRP does not diagnose a specific condition, it can help monitor disease activity, assess the risk of heart attack or stroke, and guide treatment decisions.
The Complete Blood Count Advanced (CBC Advanced) test provides a comprehensive assessment of blood health by measuring various parameters of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. It goes beyond the standard CBC by including additional markers like reticulocyte count, immature granulocyte count, and platelet indices, offering a deeper understanding of blood cell production, function, and potential abnormalities. This advanced test is valuable in diagnosing a wide range of conditions, including anemia, infections, blood clotting disorders, and certain types of cancer.
THIS ASSAY IS USEFUL FOR DIAGNOSIS AND DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS OF HYPERCALCEMIA. IT ALSO HELPS IN THE DIAGNOSIS OF PRIMARY / SECONDARY / TERTIARY HYPERPARATHYROIDISM AND HYPOPARATHYROIDISM. THE ASSAY MAY BE USEFUL IN MONITORING END STAGE RENAL FAILURE PATIENTS FOR POSSIBLE RENAL OSTEODYSTROPHY.
NLR (NEUTROPHIL LYMPHOCYTE RATIO) IS A MEANINGFUL PARAMETER FOR PROGNOSIS AND RISK STRATIFICATION IN PATIENTS INFECTED WITH COVID-19. IT IS AN INDEPENDENT RISK FACTOR FOR CRITICAL ILLNESS IN PATIENTS WITH COVID-19.
FERRITIN LEVELS REFLECT IRON STOES IN NORMAL INDIVIDUALS. A LOW SERUM FERRITIN LEVEL IS AN INDICATOR OF IRON DEPLETION. THIS ASSAY IS CLINICALLY USEFUL IN DISTINGUISHING BETWEEN IRON DEFICIENCY ANEMIA (LOW LEVEL) AND ANEMIA OF CHRONIC DISEASE (NORMAL OR HIGH LEVEL). IT IS ALSO USEFUL TO ASSESS IRON OVERLOAD CONDITIONS LIKE HEMOCHROMATOSIS. FERRITIN IS ALSO AN ACUTE PHASE REACTANT.
